现在流行的是各种动漫风，painter 完全没有任何优势，被抛弃也很正常了。它擅长的是传统绘画效果，比如各种油画的厚涂笔刷，没有哪个软件比它更好，现在估计也只有艺术学院的师生才会选它来绘画了。. PS的绘画功能没那么强的时候，我一直用Painter。 说实话Painter的刮刀和水彩效果以及纸张纹理至今也无人能敌。那时候比较迷Craig Mullins的画风，可以一把刮刀走天下。另外那时候不少人用Painter的Clone功能作弊。 不过其他方面就乏善可陈，比如图层的操作及概念对于用惯PS的人来说十分反人类；笔刷的设置令人头大。对于没用过的人来讲，Painter上手不太容易，软件的学习成本略高。真要用好，对使用者的画功是个考验，毕竟它不像其他一些绘画软件那样提供了各种各样的简便功能可以弥补画手的能力不足。 这么说吧，Painter更像是给了你一张桌子，上面摆满各种绘画工具和纸张，除此之外基本都要靠自己；而像Photoshop、Procreate之类，除了提供这些，还给你配了一个能打下手的服务员，必要时他甚至能帮你完成一些工作。一般来说都会选后者吧。.

编辑于 以前挺爱用的。但是现在已经完全不碰了。 Painter这个软件，emmmmm……怎么说呢。它是一个致力于在电脑上最大限度还原真实绘画体验的绘画软件。在CG绘画体系和技巧尚未成熟的时候，还是有一定市场的。那时有很多手绘艺术家在尝试使用电脑来绘画。但是当时的CG艺术还是比较原始的，还没有形成自己独特的艺术风格和语言。所以贴近现实艺术风格的painter在当时有一定的市场。 但是，painter实在是太复杂了。各种颜料笔刷的设置，各种纸张的属性，还有水彩画的各种湿度等等都让人头大。本来手绘的画家电脑就玩的未必好，又一下子要操作这么复杂的软件。对于他们来说是很吃力的。而且当时的电脑技术也不能很好的还原纸上手绘的效果。所以那时候大部分的画家漫画家还是选择了在纸上绘画再扫描进电脑的折衷办法。 当年painter的对手photoshop其实功能也不咋地。两家都在对电脑绘画技术进行着各自的探索。但是PS在入门门槛上一直都做的很亲民。而且作为CG画手你可以不会painter但是不能不会PS，因为它的滤镜等画面调节功能很强大。所以PS的受众面更广。 再后来诞生了一批从一开始就在电脑上作画的新一代画家。他们相对于手绘派更加习惯使用电脑。并且在电脑上摸索出了属于CG的独特技巧和语言。在此时CG艺术已经从纸上艺术独立出来成为了新的画种。模仿纸上艺术的painter就显得有些鸡肋了。PS也在不断的升级自己的功能，让CG画手更加得心应手。再后来上手更简单的软件SAI和日系漫画专业软件ComicStudio（现在的CSP）让漫画家和插画家完全脱离纸上作业成为可能。从此数字艺术和传统手绘艺术正式分道扬镳。painter作为一个在数字平台上模拟传统艺术的软件此时就失去了自己的生存空间。.

In Windows try running in an older Compatibility mode like XP or Vista- instructions in link- support. aloha ok thanks i will give that a try!!! one of my laptops is running windows XP and vista older. for the Mac OS thats been an interesting adventure since im not an apple person hasnt stopped my from trying..
